What a wonderful date
Kate and I have been trying out a babysitter for a couple of weeks. She comes twice a week for the whole morning. We both get to work instead of one of us being focused on Alex and he gets to acclimate to another person. It's been a great success and been a real value.

Today we tried something new. Kate and I scheduled a date for the evening with Hoda staying with Alex for the evening. We thought that there was a reasonable chance that there would be hysterics and we'd never get to leave, or that we'd have to come home early... or at the very least that there would be a meltdown when we got home.

The little guy understand we were leaving and said goodbye. By both his report and Hoda's, he had a great time and was thrilled but not panicked to see us upon our return.

It's so wonderful to see him becoming braver and more independent. I mean, to this extent. I'm not ready for him to go off to college yet or anything. I love him so much.

All that AND Kate and I got to go to the Melting Pot. What a day.

Now when are you going to come and jump out of perfectly good airplanes with me?

I would enjoy that a great deal. Are you doing that regularly? Perhaps in late summer when Kate's mom is here and Lily is a couple months old we could think about it.

I jumped 3 times on Saturday. I'm totally addicted ... be forewarned that if you come jumping, very soon you could be living in a tent making your jump tickets by packing parachutes.

How's your weight? I'm not sure what the restrictions are weight-wise, but there are some pretty strict (though not unreasonable) limits, so you'll probably want to check with the school before showing up.

Other than that, it's awesome and it's very much something that real poker players will enjoy. There's nothing like diving head first out the door of a plane 13,000 feet over the ground.

Ooo, Melting Pot! I'm glad you're getting a little freedom to roam as Alex gets used to being with a babysitter.

It's wonderful. As much because of his ability to do it as that we get to. One way to read my post, I suppose, is that we're underwater because that hasn't been able to happen, but that's not how either of us feel. We're really enjoying the time with him, constant as it is.
